While hanging out in Scottsdale for the 4th of July weekend, we made a stop at the Odysea Aquarium, which was much better than I anticipated it being. In this article I am going to tell you about Polar Play Ice Bar, you will be able to read about our Odysea experience in the near future.
When we bought tickets for Odysea online they also offered a visit at Polar Play Ice Bar for only $5, totally reasonable. Polar Play is not inside Odysea A, it is in the outer shopping and restaurant area so we ventured over once we finished our time at Odysea. They have a large polar bear out front with his paw turned up so that you can sit on it and get a really cute photo, so of course I cheesed it up and sat down. Then we headed inside.
At first glance it does not look like much, they have a counter where you can get food and cocktails and where you check in. Fur Coats (faux of course), parkas and winter jackets for the kiddos all line the side walls toward the back of the room. All of the adult coats come in larger sizes so no need to have concern that one won’t fit, it might be too large, but it likely won’t be too small. Tables are haphazardly placed around the room and there appeared to be a back room that had some type of video game and some additional tables.
Derek grabbed a whiskey and coke and I grabbed a wine all for about twelve bucks, pretty reasonable. Then we grabbed our coats and gloves and headed in. It was really very cool (hahaha), everything is litraley made of ice. From the seating, which they cover in fur to sit on so your tushy does not freeze, to the checkers, cornhole and table shuffle board games. We took some cute photos and then played a game of checkers, finished our drinks and then headed out.
We did not really feel like it was that cold, obviously it was cold, but you don’t really feel it in the coats and gloves. I highly recommend for the $5 bucks giving it a shot, especially in the summer heat here in Arizona. It is nice to get really cold and then walk out into the heat and have it feel refreshing. The kiddos would love it just for the fun in everything being made of ice.
Living, loving, drinking, and traveling through life.
