Travel Hack – Wine Go Bag

His View

Hello all!  Today I’d like to share with you our concept of a wine Go Bag.  As you may or may not know, members of the military generally have a bag packed and ready to go at a moments notice, called a “Go Bag” or sometimes a “Bug out bag”.   Well wine lovers, many years ago we adopted what we refer to as our Wine Go Bag.

If you are one of our followers you probably already know how much we love wine.  When travelling, you will often get to hotel or be forced to stop for the night unexpectedly and you may be faced with your only choice for drinking wine being disposable plastic cup.  Plus, if the hotel does not have a restaurant or provide room service, it’s unlikely they will have a wine key. Egads! Never fear. LLDT to the rescue!

You can put together a wine travel bag for next to nothing.  We started ours with a soft sided lunch box with a plastic liner because we thought it would protect the wine glasses.  Next, we went to the dollar store and purchased a couple of small cheap wine glasses, a cheap ceramic knife (for use when we wanted to make a charcuterie board), and a cheap foldable cutting surface, and a wine key. We wrapped the wine glasses in an old hand towel and loaded up our first wine travel bag.

Over the years we have expanded our Go Bag.  We’ve added a shot glass, a bar spoon, disposable silverware, travel salt and pepper packets, napkins, Stevia packets and other necessities we might need when traveling.  The bag lives in the rear cargo area of the Jeep Wrangler, ready for any spontaneous trip we might make, but we’ve also been known to throw it in our suitcase for air travel as well.

So there you go, a pretty inexpensive way to make your own travel bag.  If you do make your own, or if you already have a wine or booze travel bag,  make sure to comment and post some pictures!

Living, loving, drinking, and traveling through life.
