Ziploc Bag Travel Hack

When we travel we have a Ziploc bag travel hack. We always throw a ton of different sizes of Ziploc zipper bags into our suitcase.  They are handy for a number of things while traveling. A lot of time when we are packing we also add a small cold bag that you would normally use for groceries.  They pack small but are versatile in that they can be used if you buy groceries, as a general tote or as an ice chest.

Ice Filled Zipper Bag and a Cold Bag

We have a bag we got in Hawaii a few years ago, it is thin but packs a punch in the ‘keeping it cool’ department.  If we have a little more room in our luggage we throw one of those really nice heavy duty Trader Joe ones in, those are really insulated.  Either way, we fill 2 quart size bags with ice and add them to the bag. Add your food, drinks or whatever you need to keep cool and off you go.  No need to purchase an ice chest each time you go somewhere.

We have seen the ice last a solid 6 hours in hot July temps in the Trader Joe's bag.  As a bonus, We have even used some of the ice for drinks. You can have some really delicious ice cold water or a cold adult beverage when you need it.

So what do you think? We would like to know if you have ever used the Ziploc bag travel hackdone this and how it worked for you, or if you have another travel hack to share. Feel free to check out our other travel hack articles as well.
