The Happs!

January has been a busy month filled with education and meetings.  Taunya has spent her time last month learning so that we can offer and recommend what best fits your needs and/or concerns for travel.  Taunya has also earned certificates for Virgin Voyages and began several other courses that she will eventually be specialized in.  The most important one being the CTA, Certified Travel Agent.  This is an extensive course which offers training ranging from planning to customer service.

Taunya will also be featured in the Peoria Times in the next few weeks.  She talks about starting a Franchise at the same time a pandemic hits and the current and future state of travel.  We will let you know when that is published!

COVID-19 Testing

As I mentioned last month the CDC is now requiring a negative COVID test for anyone entering the USA from another region.  The test is required to be taken within 72 hours of your departure.  This new regulation just went into effect and will surely have some amendments made to it in the new few weeks.  Not all information is clear so some is left to interpretation.  There is speculation that an antibody test and letter from your doctor might suffice instead of testing.  There is also speculation that you can show a positive result along with a letter from your doc stating you have fully recovered and are outside any quartinine time frames.  My recommendation is that you should get tested for ease of return.  Why risk not being able to board your plane.

We are also getting feedback that the Dominican Republic is now testing upon arrival for those who have not tested prior to departure to the Dominican Republic.  They are using a breath test and it can take anywhere from 15-20 minutes to get the results.  Seems nominal, but I would recommend getting tested prior to departure in hopes of avoiding the possibility of testing positive and having to be quarantined in a third world country.  It is simple enough to get tested these days, so let me know and we can work together to help you locate a reputable testing center.

Travel In February 2021

Travel for this upcoming month is shaping up with a few changes.  With the new CDC regulations some folks are shifting their trips to domestic locations.  Others are continuing their course and going to the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Aruba and other Caribbean locations.  Your comfort level is your comfort level and you need to plan accordingly.  I can help guide you through some decisions and concerns, but ultimately it will be where your comfort level lies.

Airfare to the Caribbean is still priced well throughout the first quarter of the year.  Mexico has had some really great deals as well.  Where do you wanna go?

As your Travel Agent, it is my job to research any new information.  I spent hours researching the new CDC regulations and checking into commonly traveled areas to find out which resorts are doing what they can to help meet these requirements.  Many are offering free or low cost testing to help get you home so you won't spend the last few days of your vacation stressing about this added step.  I can help you find the best resort to fit your travel needs.

If your preference is no COVID test, then you can travel freely domestically and we have some great offers to help you do that.  Plane tickets domestically are pretty reasonable right now.  COVID related restrictions can vary at the state, county and even the city level.  Make sure you do your research, or better yet we can help you!

Where Have We Been In January

Nowhere, literally nowhere.  January has been a very busy month for both Derek and I so we have not had the chance to do even one of our normal staycations.  For February we are planning a trip to either Cottonwood Arizona to pick up a bunch of wine, or possibly Rocky Point (Puerto Peñasco).  At this point I could use a quick sunny beach jaunt, so I am leaning toward Rocky Point.  This is the only open land border to Mexico and it is a very simple and safe drive.  I can help you plan that as well or just answer some general questions. The water is warm, blue and dolphin populated.

Where Are We Going?

Thirty five days and counting until our trip to the Dominican Republic with my brother-in-law, his wife and my mom.  We are all very excited.  We are staying at the Majestic Colonial Resort and the men are looking forward to the added value of a round of golf (or two). Meanwhile the women are looking forward to a little shopping trip and cocktails on the beach.  Our excursions are set and transportation done.  Now we are just counting down the days to our next beach adventure!
