You Can Be a Rockstar with Virgin Voyages

As I write this we are currently on board the Scarlet Lady, the flagship of Virgin Voyages. I'd like to share a few of our first impressions on the VIP experience in a Rockstar suite, and whether you really can be a Rockstar with Virgin Voyages.

Rockstar suites on Virgin are a bit of a financial upgrade from the Sea Terrace rooms. Being a Rockstar does give you some VIP perks and advantages.

Check-In Process

When we arrived at the Port of Miami at around 11:15am, there was already a line formed at the entranceway. There was a Virgin representative going down the line and asking if anyone was in a Rockstar suite. After identifying ourselves she validated our cabin number and moved us to a separate line. We were able to check through security before the stand by line.

Once through security were waiting in a separate Rockstar queue for about 10 minutes before we started the check-in process. After taking your COVID test you are escorted to the Rockstar VIP waiting area to wait for the results to arrive via email. In the waiting/lounge area your check-in is completed, and you have access to complementary water and snacks while waiting for the ship to clear and boarding to begin.

Boarding

Boarding for Rockstars begins at 1:45 and are the first to board. All we had to do was show our negative test result prior to boarding. The whole process of getting on board was very seamless. Once on board we were escorted to the Manor where we met our assigned Rockstar Agent, which is essentially our personal concierge for our voyage.

While drinking champagne our Agent helped us connect the Virgin App to the onboard WiFi, helped us customize our minibar, and answered any questions we had. As Rockstars you have immediate access to your cabin which was very nice.

We traveled up to deck 9 and were met at the top of the stairs and were escorted to our cabin where we received a suite instructional breakdown. We even received our luggage in the cabin about 10 mins after we entered it.

Other Rockstar Perks

Other than priority for reservations, the other major VIP advantage to the Rockstar suites is access to Richard's Rooftop, and exclusive area on the fore top deck of the ship. The Scarlet Lady has only one small pool, and on our first sea day all of the loungers were taken by eleven.

Richard's Rooftop is a VIP area only accessible to Rockstars, and we had no issues finding a pair of lounge chairs. While there is no pool, there is a small jacuzzi on either side of the Rooftop. We quickly found that we liked hanging out up there as it was significantly less crowded and easy to find a space. The lack of music is noticeable though compared to other areas of the ship. It seems to be more a chill area compared to the party atmosphere of the pool area, which for you may be a plus or a minus.

Final Thoughts... For now...

So while you can be a Rockstar with Virgin Voyages, the biggest question is whether it is really worth it. We are only on our second day of our voyage. But after spending one sea day and one day in port, I have to say we are really enjoying our experience. Our ship is only at about a third of capacity, but having access to less crowded areas is a great perk. We do wish it was a bit more lively up there though. Plus having a Rockstar Agent is extremely convenient.

Taunya took another cruise earlier this month on another line, and was in a much smaller balcony room. This room is significantly more comfortable by comparison. But we have 3 more days to go, so I'll hold out on final thoughts until we finish our experience. 😊 So stay tuned for more info to come!
